Looking for healthier New Year’s Eve cocktails? I’ve listed seven tasty cocktails made healthier because they contain things like:
- A lower calorie alcohol
- Whole fruit, fresh squeezed fruit juice, or light fruit juice
- Club soda (0g sugar), Seltzer or soda water (0g sugar), or diet soda
- No syrups or pre-made mixes
In general, to enjoy a healthier New Year’s Eve, you want to limit cocktails with a lot of added sugar. If your cocktail has any of the following, it has added sugar:
- Pre-made mixes (like a margarita mix)
- Tonic water
- Soda (that isn’t club soda)
- Fruit juice (that isn’t 100% juice)
- Sugar syrups

6. Vegan Eggnog
Traditional eggnog is notoriously a fat-filled drink. It is also high in sugar, averaging 20g of sugar per cup.
Try vegan eggnog for a much lighter drink. It uses banana instead of egg yolk, and almond milk instead of whole milk and cream. There is also no added sugar in this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 Banana (frozen)
- ½ teaspoon Nutmeg (fresh grated recommended)
- 2 cups Almond Milk
- Rum – to taste

7. Champagne & Fruit
Champagne is actually already a lower calorie alcoholic drink. One glass of champagne (4 oz) is only 90 calories. Add some frozen fruit like berries into your drink for added bits of fun and health!
Keep in mind the sweeter the champagne, the more added sugar and therefore calories it contains. Champagne ranges from Brut Natural (least sweet, ~90 calories) to Doux (most sweet, ~120 calories).
